AFRICAN BIRDS
As the title denotes, this album is for African Birds or, to be more precise, for photos of birds that I’ve taken in sub-Saharan mainland Africa - the countries and/or regions included in my 'East African Safaris’ album, plus the Gambia in West Africa.
In fact, there are quite a few photos from the Gambia featured here, simply because the country is primarily a birding destination
where you have the freedom of being on foot rather than having to contend with the limitations of photographing from a safari vehicle.
Prior to putting the collection together I ran through all the African bird records on my 'World Bird List' and was surprised to note that, excluding photos taken in Morocco in North Africa, and the Seychelles, I had close on 300 species. Obviously with that number I've had to be very selective in order to keep the album to a manageable size, but at the same time I wanted variety and to ensure that I had a good representation of the many different species I've seen. I hope that the collection fulfils the requirement.
The following thumbnails expand when clicked. You can then scroll through the images in either the 'standard view', or an alternative 'compact view' (via the info button) if you wish to see where the photo was taken and read about the encounter and/or the species.
Whilst my albums are optimised for viewing on a desktop monitor or larger laptop, there is an optional 'full screen' mode for tablets or notebooks. But, please note that if you do use this mode on a smaller device, the top and/or bottom of some photos may
be clipped, and if you leave your curser over the image the navigation overlay backgrounds may be visible.
